android, the new or should i say old? Its been a long since this OS was introduced and newer and newer versions were rolled out.
Taking a new fone is like your baby whom you will care for atleast couple of years if you find it worth.
I have been using Windows mobile with all added softwares to enhance its experience, Android powered mobile was a challenge in itself after using such a powerful OS and software support. But to my surprise with my new LG GW620 purchased in March 2010, Android stands its expectations.
Beautiful UI, widgets and lots of free softwares...
my GW comes with GPS, 3G, Wifi and no of email clients.
With the original Gmail provided by google, it has other email clients which allows you to access Pop3 mails from Hotmail, another gmail and Yahoo (if you have paid for pop3).
Whats the benefit over WM is its basically free, what problems it can face is version dependency. Android released 1.5 . . . and latest 2.1 in very short period of time thou most of us are still on 1.5, costlier handsets are offering 2.1
WM softwares are more matured as compared to android as its an comparatively old OS. But in time to come with players such as HTC taking interest, the OS will be as popular as WM.
The advantages of GW can be checked on google so i wont post it again, best part is its affordable, thou that word has different meaning now a days, still what i meant was below 20K perhaps arnd 15K.
Im Exploring the new capabilities of android such as GPS, Wifi, net experience and im baffled with the results. GPS softwares are available and GPRS is to be activated in order to use that mapping tool. One more map software is available for people who want offlien maps. The software is called as RMAPS and it works amazing, the new functionality expected is routing which is currently not present.
Any software to be installed is via APK format
For this you need to install apps installer from Android market which you can download using GPRS as that it self is an APK. then that apps installer will detect your downloads and you can see what you can and what you cant do with ur Android..
Happy googling with Android...
